2020/2021 ACADEMIC SESSION: IMPORTANT INFORMATION AND REQUIREMENTS FOR FRESH AND RETURNING UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS OF AFE BABALOLA UNIVERSITY, ADO – EKITI (ABUAD)
A. INFORMATION AND REQUIREMENTS FOR FRESH AND RETURNING UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS, 2020/2021 ACADEMIC SESSION
The primary objective of the University is to nurture students who will be able to impact positively not only on their immediate environment but also on the larger society.
The import of this objective is the identification and admission of students with ascertainable academic competence and innate personal qualities. Those who are best suited to imbibe and put into practice the principles of “Afeism” (hardwork, determination, integrity and excellence) for which the Founder (Aare Afe Babalola, SAN..) is renowned and upon which the University has come into existence.
ABUAD is committed to offering equal opportunities to prospective students irrespective of creed, religion, race, political affiliation or financial status. Indeed, the University’s Endowment Fund in addition to the provision of scholarships to deserving students already ensures that the cost of the qualitative education available at the University is highly subsidized.
Pursuant to the Federal Government’s directive to suspend academic activities in order to control the community transmission of the second wave of Covid-19 pandemic which necessitates all schools including tertiary institutions are to remain closed until 18 January 2021. The University Senate has therefore approved the postponement of physical resumption for all freshers and returning students.
However, freshers’ registration, orientation and lectures shall be Virtual while Virtual revision lectures and tutorials for the returning students through our Learning Management System (LMS) shall commence from January 4th, 2021 as indicated below.
B. PROSPECTIVE STUDENTS – REQUIREMENTS:
- PLACEMENT INTO DEGREE PROGRAMMES
- Placement into Degree Programmes is based on performance at the UTME, post-UTME screening, and satisfaction of the O’Level requirements as stated in the JAMB Brochure for courses and subject to the number of spaces available in the particular programme.
C. RESUMPTION AND REGISTRATION FOR FRESHERS (UTME, DIRECT-ENTRY AND INTER-UNIVERSITY TRANSFER CANDIDATES)
1. The 2020/2021 Academic Session commences online on the 4th of January, 2021.
2 Fresh Undergraduates Orientation Programme
The Virtual Orientation Programme for Fresh Undergraduates shall be conducted from 11th January, 2021. The time table, meeting link and passcode shall be communicated via the student’s portal
- Each fresh undergraduate is expected to upload the following documents on the portal. USING THE FORM LINK PROVIDED BELOW:
- Provisional Admission Letter
- Birth Certificate
- Current UTME Result
- Candidates who did not make ABUAD their first choice of institution in JAMB are to visit any JAMB CBT Center or JAMB Office to make the change and present evidence at registration (JAMB Change of Institution Slip).
- O/L Result:
- For the LL. B and MBBS programmes in the College of Law, and the College of Medicine & Health Sciences respectively, the University shall accept five O’ Level Credits (WAEC/NECO/NABTEB) results at one (1) sitting only.
- For other Programmes, Five O’ Level Credits (WAEC/NECO/NABTEB) results at one sitting or Six Credit Passes at not more than Two Sittings are acceptable.
- Passport photograph.
- A letter of undertaking by the Candidate’s Parent/Sponsor and a letter of guarantee by a Christian Clergy or Muslim Cleric, with their telephone numbers guaranteeing good behavior and compliance with the University’s Rules and Regulations.
- A sworn Affidavit deposed to by the student, giving information about his/her name, address, e-mail address and name, phone numbers and e-mail address of parents/guardians, is required at the point of Registration.

D. RETURNING UNDERGRADUATES:
- The returning undergraduates shall continue the 2020/2021 Academic Session online starting from 4th of January, 2021. This is in strict adherence to the Senate Approved Academic Calendar for 2020/2021 session.
E. PAYMENT OF UNIVERSITY FEES:
- Candidates (Fresh Undergraduates) who are offered Provisional Admission are expected to pay the University fees before registration.
- Details on how to pay fees for 2020/2021 Academic Session, how to register for courses online, get room allocation online, participate in the orientation programmes, commence virtual lectures, and the Senate Approved Academic Calendar shall be made available on the following platforms

F. INFORMATION NECESSARY FOR PHYSICAL RESUMPTION OF STUDENTS:
1. Official Banks Operating on Campus for Students’ Pocket Money:
- WEMA Bank Plc.
- Fidelity Bank Plc.
- Skye Bank Plc. (Cash Center)
- Several Banks’ ATM Points are also available on the Campus.
NOTE: Students are NOT allowed to operate Bank Accounts with any other BANK and shall NOT be permitted to leave the University to visit any bank outside the University.
2. Mode of Dressing:
Afe Babalola University places heavy premium on the appearance of all Staff as well as all Students within and outside the University.
The following are the prescribed dress codes for all students;
i College of Law:
- White blouse on Black skirt and corporate black covered shoes.
- White long sleeve shirt on black plain trousers with black belt, black stockings and black leather shoes.
- Trousers and all black dresses are not allowed for Female Law Students.
- Male Law Students shall wear either ABUAD ties or all black non- patterned ties.
ii College of Medicine and Health Sciences:
- Red blouse/shirt on matching colour of skirts/trousers.
- Male students shall wear either ABUAD ties or any tie of matching colour.
iii College of Engineering:
- Leaf green blouse/shirt on matching colour of skirts/trousers.
- Male students shall wear either ABUAD ties or any tie of matching colour.
iv College of Sciences:
- Light Yellow blouse/shirt on matching colour of skirts/trousers which can be black, blue or something matching.
- Male students shall wear either ABUAD ties or any tie of matching colour.
v. College of Social and Management Sciences:
- Sky- Blue blouse/shirt on matching colour of skirts/ trousers.
- Male students shall wear either ABUAD ties or any tie of matching colour.
vi Laboratory Wears:
- College of Medicine and Health Sciences: White Overall with ABUAD badge
- College of Sciences: White Overall with ABUAD badge
- College of Engineering: Navy Blue Overall with ABUAD badge
3. Students Hairdress and Makeup:
- Female students are not allowed to wear outrageous hairstyles and heavy makeup.
- Only decent and moderate jewelries, hairstyles and makeup are allowed.
- Only hair extensions matching the natural hair colour is allowed.
- Male students must have well-trimmed haircut and must be clean shaven at all times.
4. All Students are mandated to:
- Abide by the University’s dress codes.
- Dress formally during school hours (8am-3pm), Monday-Friday. All Students shall dress decently at all times.
- All Male Students shall wear ABUAD tie while Female Students shall wear ABUAD scarves to all University Official functions.
- Wearing of Jeans/Denim may be allowed only after 3 pm and during weekends provided, they are clean and not defaced.
- Students MUST adhere strictly to the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC) Protocols on Covid-19 preventive measures and MUST wear face masks at all times.
5. Students on Medication:
- It is mandatory for Parents to disclose their ward’s health status and prescribed medications. Chronic, genetic or other long-term ailments shall be carefully monitored by the University Multi-System Hospital to assist Students achieve best academic and overall results. Parents are enjoined to cooperate with the University and the ABUAD Multisystem Hospital Management.
6. Halls of Residence Requirements:
- The following are the minimum required items that a student may need during his/her stay in the Hall of Residence:
- Feeding Allowance
- Pillow Cases (at least 2)
- Blankets (at least 2)
- Bed sheets 4 x 7 (at least 2)
- Cutlery (Spoons Only)
- Plastic Buckets
- Padlock and Key Ring
- Torch Light and Batteries
- Re-chargeable Reading Lamp
- Plastic Hangers
- School Bag
- Sweater
- Raincoat/Umbrella
- Toiletries
- Laptop (Student’s name must be boldly engraved on it and the laptops shall also be registered at the Students’ Affairs Office upon resumption).
- Writing materials
- Sporting Wears;
- T-shirts with sleeves, Track Down or short, Canvas Shoes (Sneakers), Swimming Trunk/Suit.
- Nose masks
- Hand Sanitizers
- Provisions (EXCLUDING INSTANT NOODLES)
NOTE that all the above items are available for purchase within the University campus.

8. Very Important Information
- MOBILE PHONES: the University would allow students to use telephones only after lectures and outside the lecture Halls.
- Capturing of Identity Card shall be done at the Directorate of ICT, PTCF Building, ABUAD.
- Students must duly comply with the ABUAD Residency Agreement before room allocation into the Halls of Residence is given.
- All parents/guardians and students shall duly complete the Indemnity Form before the allocation of rooms into the Halls of Residence is made and return to the Registry upon completion.
NOTE:
- A maximum of two suit cases/bags shall be permitted at resumption for each student in addition to the laptop bag and one hand bag.
- Students should pack their provisions’ bag separately and clothing’s bags separately, otherwise they shall not be attended to at the gate during resumption.
