Rasheed Aro is a recent first class graduate of law at Afe Babalola University, Ado Ekiti, Nigeria. He is a multi-faceted individual with a remarkable track record in academics, entrepreneurship, and public service. Born in Abeokuta, Ogun State, Nigeria, Rasheed began his academic pursuit at Babcock University as a student of International Law and Diplomacy for only two months. However, due to his strong passion for law and to seek a more rigorous academic environment, he transferred to Afe Babalola University, a world-class institution known for excellence.
Aside from his dedication to his studies, Rasheed possesses a keen interest in knowledge dissemination. In the spirit of that, in 2019, he authored his first book titled “I’MPOSSIBLE,” a synopsis of the autobiography of Nigeria’s foremost legal icon, Aare Afe Babalola, Learned Senior Advocate of Nigeria – a book which was funded by the renowned legal icon, Aare Afe Babalola, Learned Senior Advocate himself.
Rasheed is a staunch critic of the currency constitution. In light of this, he authored a 317-page memorandum for the National Assembly’s constitutional amendment call advocating a complete overhaul rather than an amendment. As a environmentalist, he had also proposed the establishment of a National Environmental Court (NEC) to the Ministry of Environment through a 65-page proposal in 2024. He has written his second book titled BEYOND THE TEXT: A Call To Overhaul Nigeria’s 1999 Constitution, a comprehensive critic of the current constitution and a call for a total abolishment of the constitution which he perceives as fraudulent.
Technology also holds significant appeal for Rasheed. He co-founded Finstaq Technologies Limited, a technology company registered in Delaware, the United States of America and Nigeria. Alongside his co-founder, he played a pivotal role in developing Trakka, a budget based banking and open banking application lauded as the “Rising Startup of the Year 2023” by TekArt and a third-place winner in Wema Bank’s national “Wema Hackaholics Competition” in 2023 winning the university a N7,000,000 endowment fund.
Rasheed’s exceptional abilities and accomplishments garnered him recognition in 2023 when he was selected to represent Afe Babalola University at Kings College London, a prestigious institution fostering his global perspective.
Rasheed also served as the Director of Socials of the student representative council (SRC) of Afe Babalola University in his 3rd year. In his 5th year, he also served as a member of the student representative council(SRC) once again. Rasheed is also a certified Chartered Mediator and Associate Arbitrator, accredited by the Nigerian Institute of Chartered Mediators and Conciliators (NICMC) and the Institute of Chartered Arbitrators, respectively.
Rasheed is a seasoned public speaker, having delivered talks at various webinars, seminars, and conferences. Rasheed was recently described by Aare Afe Babalola as “accomplished writer”.
