The management of Afe Babalola University has announced a new salary scale for its staff starting from this January. The University which was already one of the highest paying universities in Nigeria recently had an upward review of its salaries for the staff of the University. Announcing this at the venue of the University’s seminar on Teaching Methods, the Deputy Vice Chancellor Professor M.O Ajisafe informed the audience that the founder and President of the University, Aare Afe Babalola mandated them to collate the salary scale of all Universities in Nigeria after which they were to propose a higher scale for the University staff. He stated that their first proposal was rejected by the founder who insisted that it was still small. A further upward review was later accepted by the founder on the promise that it will continue to be reviewed until it equals the salary of their foreign counterparts in developed countries. This is in line with the vision of the founder to build ABUAD as a world-class university which will be comparable to other top universities in the world. The founder believes that teaching is a noble profession and teachers, like in the early years of the country, must be among the highest earning professionals in Nigeria.
