ABUAD plans for a Digital Education Centre

The Internet Computing Core Professional Examination conducted by CERTIPORT, United Kingdom, was excellently passed by a group of Afe Babalola University Ado Ekiti (ABUAD) Students that sat for it. 

In the presentation of the certificate, the Provost, College of Sciences, Prof. M.O. Ajisafe expressed his satisfaction at the outcome of the results. He said, out of the 34 students that registered for the professional examination, 28 students passed excellently. He said that, apart from the fact that the students made themselves and their parents proud, they have also bestowed a sense of pride on the Institution. He congratulated the students for their success.

In her remarks, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Sidi Osho who presented the students to the Founder, Aare Afe Babalola, said, to be computer literate is vital in this ever-changing world. According to her, the world has gone digital, thus, it is very important to move with the tide. She said the students receiving CERTIPORT Certificate today have actualized the vision of the University and that of its Founder, Aare Afe Babalola.

The Founder and President Emeritus, Aare Afe Babalola, in his remarks, expressed his gladness when he said the day was a great day in ABUAD. He thanked all the Lecturers in the University and in particular, the lecturers in the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Department. Aare said, “I am very proud of you. It is through your cooperation and dedication that we are here today. There are teachers who teach for the pay alone, but yours is not like that”. Speaking to the students, he stated, “We are proud of you. Your parents and guidance spent money to educate you to this level. I urge you to have faith in God and have faith in the mission of the University. I am happy for you”.

In his statement, the Chairman Commit Technology and Consult Ltd, Dr. Niran Oyekale, who supervised the Examination with his Team, said, it was a mission to digital literacy education in Nigeria. As he stated, this is an achievement for the students and for the Institution. The students are the first set of students to be certified by CERTIPORT in Nigeria. Dr. Oyekale said, ABUAD, Commit Technology and CERTIPORT, UK, are making efforts for a Digital Literacy Education Centre in ABUAD. He said, it is in a way to launch a foundation that will make ABUAD produce multifaceted students.
