The OGEES Institute is proud to announce the appointment of seven international sustainable development scholars into the editorial board of its Journal of Sustainable Development Law and Policy (JSDLP).

The JSDLP is Nigeria’s first interdisciplinary sustainable development journal, published by the fastest growing private University in Africa- Afe Babalola University, Ado Ekiti. The journal hopes to foster the rapid dissemination of preliminary research results and other work in progress by teaching and research scholars in Africa and across the world in the area of sustainable development law and policy. The OGEES Institute hopes to publish two issues per year.

Following the success of the maiden edition, which was published this year, the Institute has now moved to sustain the momentum and to solidify the reputation of the journal by appointing leading experts and scholars in sustainable development law and policy. The Editorial Board, now composed of international development scholars and experts from Italy, United Kingdom, Indonesia, Nigeria, Canada and the United States would provide leadership and lend their expertise to promoting the journal internationally. By this appointment, plans are now in top gear to release the second volume of this international refereed journal in September.

According to the Editor in Chief of the Journal, Dr. Damilola S. Olawuyi, “It is a remarkable feat that these leading scholars have agreed to support the journal and to work with us. This only confirms the potentials and promise of this journal and of OGEES Institute itself as Africa's center for sustainable development research. We thank Aare Afe Babalola for his vision and for supporting the Institute, we shall not rest on our oars”

The Executive Director of OGEES Institute, Mr. Patrick Tolani also noted that “this is another positive step that confirms that the OGEES Institute has come to stay and prosper; and that it will continually provide credible leadership in the area of sustainable development in Africa. This journal is one of the vehicles the institute is using to deliver on its four-pronged mandate of research, training, consultancy and publication".

With the level of insightful submissions received already, the second edition promises to be yet another collection of insightful articles in the field of sustainable development law and policy.

A call for submission has been released. We welcome submissions until 30 August 2013. All enquiries and submissions are to be directed to info@ogeesinstitute.edu.ng
