It is not for nothing that Afe Babalola University, Ado-Ekiti (ABUAD) is a pacesetter and a 21st Century model modern university pioneering and promoting reformatory education to change the country’s educational landscape for better. It is not for nothing that the four-year old university is ranked by World Universities Webometric ranking as the 2nd Best Private University and 13th of all the 157 Universities in Nigeria.
Again, it is certainly not for nothing that UNESCO has invited ABUAD to collaborate with it on issues related to education, particularly on the Flagship Programme 2 of Operational Strategy for Priority Africa (2014-2021) titled “Strengthening Education Systems for Sustainable Development in Africa: Improving Equity, Quality and Relevance”.
It is certainly for something, and something commendable at that, that UNESCO has volunteered “to publicize UNESCO-ABUAD initiatives on its website”, thereby ‘portraying ABUAD as one of the shining beacon of excellence in its endeavour to be one of the best universities in African and the world’.
In tandem with all the above, the university has taken its flag of leadership and excellence to the on-going Nigeria Private Universities Games, NPUGA at Joseph Ayo Babalola University, JABU, at Ikeji in Osun state where it hauled in 14 gold, 15 silver and 15 bronze medals, making a total of 44 medals as a result of which it is leading the pack of all private universities in Nigeria as at press time.
