The highly cerebral and ebullient Head, Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering of Afe Babalola University, Ado-Ekiti (ABUAD), Prof. Olufemi Olowolafe, has given vent to the age-long aphorism that all work without play makes Jack a dull boy by winning the coveted trophy at the maiden Ojuawo Golf Tournament recently held at the Ado-Ekiti Golf Club.

Olowolafe, a keen Golfer, who played with 28 handicap had a gross of 98 to finish with a net of 70. He also emerged the winner in the veteran category in a keenly contested tournament where Golfers from Kadariko in Kainji, IBB in Abuja, Ikeja, Benue, Ikoyi and Ekiti participated.

In the Ladies Category, Dupe John, also of Ekiti Golf Club, emerged winner.

The one-day tournament was organized by members of Ekiti Golf Club and other friends and acquaintances to celebrate Rufus Adeniyi Ojuawo who has just been elevated to the rank of Air Vice Marshall in the Nigerian Air Force (NAF).

The winner in the Men’s Category was Air Vice Marshall A. Morgan while Air Commodore Ben. Onwueka from IBB Golf Club had the longest drive.

Speaking at the end of the one-day tourney, the Captain of Ekiti Golf Club, Mr. Gbenga Akinbode, described the newly promoted Ojuawo as a good ambassador of the Club and urged the youths in Ekiti state to emulate his perseverance and diligence.

Responding, Ojuawo thanked the Ekiti Golf Club members and golfers from various clubs across the country to the honour done him with a promise to continue to do his best in the promotion of the game.
