2022 EDITION OF ABUAD YOUNG CHILDREN CLIMATE CHANGE INITIATIVE

In pursuance of the Young children climate change initiative developed in 2021, ABUAD, during the on 2th May 2022 during the year 2022 Children’s Day organized another climate change even to promote sustainable climate change by taking the advocacy and awareness creation to the pupils and students of ABUAD International School (ABIS) and ABUAD International Study Centre. The goal to build their capacity on how to adapt, mitigate, combat and understand the early warnings of the negative effect and impact of climate change disaster.

The programme was organized by the ABUAD Clean and Green Club to commemorate the Children’s Day 2022 which was celebrated on 27th of May 2022. The event which took place the University planetarium was well attended by the children and teens across all classes.

The Clean and Green Club taught the students the rudiments of climate change and its attendants’ terminologies in its simplest form, different ways by which our planet can be made safe and worth living, creating a nexus between the human day-to-day endeavors as they affect the climate and weather, provided a platform for the students to discuss their personal experiences and understanding of climate change, and encouraged them to become actively involved in the protection of our planet against global warming, energy wastages, climate changes and greenhouse gases among many others. These include how to engage in tree planting, recycling activities, and personal hygiene which can begin with planting flowers during the school labor period, switching off power when not in use, washing of hands and teaching them the effective principle of recycling more sustainably.

The students were very excited by this experience thereby making the University nto be happy with its decision of including climate change and You in the sciences, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) curriculum. A way to continue to build the students’ capacity in the area of climate change and its management.

The event was consummated as usual with an exploratory journey to the space which was handled by the ABUAD’s Director of Space Development, Dr Yinka Ajiboye at the Planetarium which is the venue of the event.


In 2021, ABUAD developed an initiative that will ensure sustainable climate change by taking the advocacy and awareness creation to the pupils and students of ABUAD International School (ABIS).

The motive is to engage and empower the students with the requisite fundamental skills for combating the negative impact of climate change. The programme was organized by the ABUAD Green Club to commemorate Children’s Day 2021 which comes up on the 27th of May 2021.

The students were later taken to the University’s planetarium to enjoy an exploratory visit to space. This is in a bid to assist them to have a strong link with nature and also grant them more insight into how they can make our planet earth safe for living right from their age thereby catching them young and empowering them for future climate change management.

The students were very excited by this experience thereby making the University not only make a decision of adopting it as a must-be-done programme periodically but also to include it in the (sciences, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) curriculum. This will continue to enhance their capacity in the area of climate change and its management.
