ABUAD OPEN AND DISTANCE LEARNING MATRICULATES ITS PIONEER STUDENTS
Afe Babalola University Ado-Ekiti has matriculated students of its Open and Distance Learning Centre. Speaking at the event, the Vice-Chancellor of the university, Professor E. Smaranda Olarinde stated that the programme was a “dream come true” and advised students to be focused and take full advantage of its many benefits. She said that Open and Distance Learning is a learning system which gives students much flexibility in time and space, as both lecturers and learners don’t have to meet physically.
She further stated that “It must be emphasized that ABUAD ODL is part of the Founder’s efforts to make impossibilities possiblein the lives of learners who cannot attend the regular university programme as a result of the cost and other constraints. With this mode of learning, students will be able to partake in the quality, functional and transformative education which ABUAD offers, with the added advantage of flexibility, affordability and accessibility without compromising the quality of the certificate”.
She ended by stating that students must adhere to the guidelines, including online weekly interactions with the e-tutors, submitting assignments, interacting with other students online, submitting feedback and asking questions. To ease the students’ academic journey, she further informed them that support is made available in form of administrative support, learners’ support and guidance and counselling services.
