The Provost, College of Social and Management Sciences (SMS), Dr. Adewale Alawiye-Adams, has given kudos to the students of the University for substantially complying with the dress code introduced to ensure proper and dignified way of dressing on campus.
According to Alawiye-Adams, the students, across board, have not only complied with descent dressing habit whereby male students always tuck-in their shirts and wear ties while their female counterparts have also shunned the wearing of provocative dresses, they have equally complied with colour code for each of the Colleges.
The colours for the Colleges are:
College of Medicine & Health Sciences, Red,
College of Sciences, Gold,
College of Social and Management Sciences, Blue,
College of Law, White,
College of Engineering, Green.
Alawiye-Adams told ABUAD NEWSWEEK that there has been up to 85% compliance as a result of which it is relatively easy to arrange the students in the examination halls during the recently concluded First Semester examination.
As a demonstration of the fact that the university will always reward excellence and compliance with set rules and sanction any breach therefrom, the Ag. Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Michael Ajisafe, is set to reward nine randomly picked well-dressed students during the January 20, 2014 Students’ Congress.
The commendable and sartorial students are Gideon K.C. Onuigwe and Muizzat O. Adams from the College of Law, Benjamin O. Adams and Eucharia S. Michael from the College of Social and Management Sciences as well as Uchenna G. Ogbonna of the College of Sciences.
Others are Oluwafemi S. Folorunso and Mayowa E. Oshin of College of Engineering and Blessing C. Ibe as well as Oluwatomiwa C. Ajayi of the College of Medicine and Health Sciences.
Addendum: The university is so particular, passionate and finicky about decent dressing, if not outright sartorial elegance, that the Founder, Aare Afe Babalola, SAN, sometimes last year randomly picked the students in the photograph above and branded them ABUAD Dressing Ambassadors. Who says obedience and compliance doesn’t pay? Thumbs up for you guys!
