The Founder and President Emeritus of Afe Babalola University, Ado-Ekiti (ABUAD), has called on members of the nation’s security apparatus including the Economics and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC), Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), embassies, the government and its agencies to send their members for the summer tranche of this programme.
Others expected to plug into the programme are paralegal services, Intelligence and security outfits, Customs, Immigration, International and local Non-Governmental Organisations, Ministries of Justice, Foreign Affairs and other ministries. It is also very relevant to politicians, Culture and Tourism experts, International Diplomacy consultants, national and multi-national corporations among many others. It is a programme that will enrich them.
Babalola made this call while addressing participants of the University’s maiden Certificate Programme in Ado-Ekiti recently and enjoined the afore mentioned officials to take advantage of the Certificate Programme in Social Justice, a programme designed to promote efficiency among members of the nation’s security apparatus.
According the legal icon, the innovative curriculum is equally designed to equip both graduates and the certificate holders with multi-disciplinary and multi-skilled knowledge suitable for employment locally and internationally particularly as it combines carefully selected courses in Law, Social Sciences and Information Technology as well as international languages and culture.
Digging into the benefits of the programme, Babalola said it is highly relevant for students and workers who would want to work or are currently working in different areas of life including paralegal services, Police, intelligence and security outfits, Customs, Immigration, International and local Non-Governmental Organizations, Ministries of Justice, Foreign Affairs and other ministries.
For the umpteenth time, Babalola advised the Federal Government to do all in its power to improve the condition of service of the Nigeria Police which today is bereft of virtually everything that would make it function maximally and optimally.
Apart from providing the necessary logistics for the Police, concrete efforts should be made to increase to beef up the police force by hiring more men and this should be done with priority attention in view of the ominous cloud surrounding the 2015 general elections judging by the deeds and utterances of our political gladiators. All law enforcement agencies should get ready.
He commended lucky pioneer Certificate Programme students for their perseverance and cooperation, noting that they have now become part of the ABUAD family as their Bio Data will not be complete without mentioning the intensive programme they have attended in ABUAD.
