ABSTRACT

This paper is interested in the phenomenon of Language contacts and the social linguistics consequences.  Of great concern to us is the effect and influence of Pidgin and English languages on Yoruba language.

The amount of integrated words, code-mixing, code-switching and probably the threat of total encroachment on Yoruba Language by the Pidgin and English Languages as a result of eth          nic-affiliation affinity will be discussed.

Our paper will use the Armstrong and Williamson tradition of Comparative Linguistics formula as well as modeling classification for easy analysis.

In conclusion, we hope to provide explanations, showing Linguistics evidences and factors responsible for the marked influence of neighbouring Languages on Yoruba Language and to probably recommend some solutions that will allow for benefits inherent in the adequate use of mother-tongue to manifest.
